Artist Statement
"Katherine relishes working with water based-based media. She has been doing asian brush painting, generally referred to as sumi-e, on both traditional rice papers as well as translating sumi-e techniques onto canvas (sometimes incorporating acrylic as well as traditional sumi-e inks, asian & western formulations of watercolor pigments. Katherine's studio presents landscapes, animals, abstract visions, and hand painted greeting cards - no two the same, each an original small piece of art. She also creates jewelry in chainmaille and beaded bracelets on a small table loom. She is a longtime Edmonds resident and has recently joined the Graphite Arts Center as a locker artist."
