Artist Statement
"Dana is a painter based in Edmonds, Washington, originally from Hawai‘i. She has participated in the Edmonds Art Studio Tour for the past three years, welcoming visitors into her studio at Graphite Arts Center in downtown Edmonds. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she creates large-scale floral paintings and abstract ocean compositions. Her work centers on emotional connection. The florals draw from the role flowers play in life’s defining moments and are rendered with both grace and intensity. Her ocean series, "Stories Across Oceans", examines how water connects people through memory and shared experience. Influenced by the landscapes of Hawai‘i and the Pacific Northwest, Dana develops each painting through a layered process that moves from gestural mark-making to refined, deliberate composition. After more than 25 years as an art educator, she is now fully dedicated to her studio practice and the continued development of both series."

Edmonds Connection
Dana is an active member of the Edmonds arts community. She is a studio artist and member of the administrative team at Graphite Arts Center in downtown Edmonds, where she maintains a consistent presence throughout the week. Her dual role extends beyond her own studio practice to supporting artists, exhibitions, and programming that strengthen the broader creative community. As a participating artist in the Edmonds Art Studio Tour for the past three years, she has welcomed visitors into her working studio and developed lasting relationships with collectors and fellow artists. Edmonds is where her professional practice has grown and evolved, and where she continues to contribute to the local arts landscape.
